Are You Topping Your Healthy Pancakes and Waffles with Syrup?

December 2, 2009 in Antioxidants, Blog Recipes, Mediterranean, Nutrition by Joyce Bunderson

I know that some people would feel so deprived without maple syrup, but the recipe below is an easy way to add antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber to an already healthy menu item – Dr. Grandma’s Pancakes or Waffles. Even if you serve only half of your pancakes with berries instead of syrup, you’ve saved yourself from lots of simple sugar. The surprise may come when you discover that you like it better than maple syrup.

Post script: This is the final touch of turning a highly processed meal (white flour pancakes and syrup) to a healthy American-Mediterranean menu item – Dr. Grandma’s whole wheat pancakes with Strawberry Syrup. It's a great breakfast if you're watching your sugar intake, or have diabetes, or want to avoid it, or just like delicious healthy meals.
